New Millennial

Quarter Life Crisis

I’m 25 years old, and I don’t know what I want to do with my life.

When I went to college, I wanted to learn as much as I could about as much as I could. I wasn’t going to college to get a career. And, now, as a 25-year-old woman who has two bachelors degrees and one masters degree, I don’t have a direction in which to travel.

There are several things I would like to do with my life, but none of those things translate into a career with a salary high enough to live and pay off my student loans.

But, what I’ve come to realize in the last few years is that it doesn’t matter what I do for a living because life shouldn’t be simply about a person’s career. Traveling abroad, I saw a society that was “work to live” rather than our society “live to work.” And I liked that mentality.

So, over the next year, while working as a teacher, I’m going to find a way to “work to live.” This is my quarter life crisis, and hopefully it won’t be much of a crisis at all.
